This little WIP will be my second Stone the Gargoyle. I realize that currently he doesn`t look much like a Gargoyle, but I assure you he will. It’s a very fast knit and a lot of fun. This little Gargoyle is not staying with me for very long as he’s a Christmas present for my friend Sean. I really was at a loss for what to knit for him this year and then he saw my Gargoyle and loudly exclaimed “That. I want that. I don’t care if you have to make it in lime green and hot pink. I want one of those.” That pretty much settled it. He’s getting one. And you will note it is neither lime green or hot pink. (Though I have to admit the thought is tempting. I would have to knit a mohawk and give it a nose ring just to complete the effect.)
I actually love it when my friends tell me what they want knitted for them. It makes my life so much easier and I am usually happy to oblige. (I am very fortunate that most people in my life have a fairly good understanding of the time a knitted object takes to create and therefore ask for reasonable things from me.) And when Stone the Second is complete it will be another Christmas gift off the list and that’s always a reason to celebrate.
When I can pull myself away from my knitting and blogging long enough to read, I am making my way through Lev Grossman’s The Magicians. Think Harry Potter meets Narnia but for adults. It’s full of 20-something angst and sarcastic wit. And somehow Grossman makes a fantastical situation seem completely plausible in a modern society. It’s a great adult fairytale and I am looking forward to reading the next book.

What a great pattern, I love gargoyles 🙂 And I love the idea of one with a mohawk – maybe you could make this one a pink and green mohawk?!
I’m knitting for my mum this christmas, and insisted that she choose the yarn and pattern (good thing I did, the things I suggested weren’t what she wanted at all!)

Is darling the right word for a gargoyle? Cuz it doesn’t feel quite right. But he is just the same… But I will not let you, Evil Temptress, drag me down another crazy path just yet. I have to finish Norman the minion first. I’m sure he’ll be much happier once he has arms…

I am only knitting for my husband for the holidays. I haven’t started but it’s my intention to do so. I hope I actually make it this year. I’ve been promising him a pair of socks since 2009!

I can’t wait to see your knitted gargoyle! I always struggle what to knit for boys, girls I can always think of something but boys I find hard! I would love it if they told me what they want!

And thanks for stopping by my space – in answer to your question re. chickens – I live in VT, and chickens are common everywhere. They even have them in in Burlington (our busiest city), but there are rules re. how many and roosters in the more urban type areas. In my town, there isn’t such thing, and my chickens have been know to run the road and visit the neighbors ;). We just make sure to give away plenty of fresh eggs to those who surround us, to stay on their good sides 🙂 Thanks!

What a fun knit! Can’t wait to see the FO gargoyle ;). And your book sounds intriguing. I love anything Harry Potter or Narnia- ish. Actually, I think I still like childrens’ book better than adult’s. Maybe I have delayed development ;).

Stone is such a great pattern. I am always a little relieved when people actually say what they want rather than me having to guess. The book sounds good, will add it to my amazon list

Looks like it is going to look fantastic! My friends make sure they let me know what they want knitting. I get quizzed every time they see me wearing something that could have been knitted. To one friend all I have to do is mention a project and she usually follows with ‘I want one!’ hehe
