My slightly imperfect completed Reunion Cowl. Imperfect because somewhere around the 3000 stitch mark I realized that the direction ” be careful not to twist” may have passed me by. So, of course I had to do three more rounds, which took the stitch count close to 4000 just to be sure. I spent about 5 minutes muttering very unladylike things to myself, (I was on the subway at the time so I fit right in), and then decided I would call it a mock Möbius and carried on. My cowl is also a weird hybrid of two different sizes. It something between the medium and the large. For all it’s imperfections, it’s wonderful and works very well. The first night I wore it out I ended up with it wrapped around my head, neck, and face when winter suddenly decided to make an appearance. Sorry, no pictures of that.
Pattern: Reunion Cowl

It looks beautiful 🙂 I love the colour.
I am hopeless at joining things in the round without twisting. I don’t think I ever managed it, so I gave up on the frustration and now I knit one row flat before joining. It works really well, and the tiny gap from the first row is easily closed when weaving in the cast on end anyway!

It’s lovely, and looks great on you! Oftentimes, we are SO hard on ourselves and no one else would even notice the ‘flaws’. Enjoy your hard work!

I do the knit one row flat and then join in round thingie to avoid the twist. but, this came out so nicely.. call it a design element and enjoy the cowl! great color choice!

I love it!!
My first cowl ended up like that. It’s a cowl with a little twist.
Keeps things interesting.

Considering all your ‘mistakes’ it still looks lovely. Sometimes its the imperfections that make a piece better, and it’s definitely yours! It’s so beautiful!

I love it and unless you told me about the “mistakes” I’d not have known. The colour is just gogeous. Well done on the finish, hope you enjoy wearing it.

Very pretty color and why not add your own twist :o).

I’ve done that before! Twisted, where I shouldn’t have. Ugh. At least you were able to see it as a “design element”! Nobody, but you, will every know it wasn’t intentional, I’m sure! The color is gorgeous, too (note to self: must start watching Dr.Who)!

Really pretty color, and it’s a very versatile pattern, happy knitting!

I don’t think it looks imperfect at all, if anything it looks lovely! Welldone!
February 3rd, 2012 at 1:28 pm
I think everyone’s added a twist where they shouldn’t at some point! It still looks great, and I love the colour (although 4000 stitches?? wow).

The good news is that no one will have any idea that there is anything imperfect from looking at it :).

It looks lovely as is and no one will know (I guess except all of us) that you didn’t intend your cowl to look that way from the very beginning.
February 3rd, 2012 at 5:49 pm
It looks like you planned all those details! I would just say that you modified the pattern instead of calling it imperfect! : ) Looks great!
February 3rd, 2012 at 6:17 pm
oooh, I hate when that happens (and it sure does happen)
It turned out great and looks fabulous on you. If you hadn’t said anything about the twist, I would have assumed you wanted it there.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:25 pm
Whatever, it works! And looks great to boot!
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:26 pm
Lovely blue! Lovely everything….. You know what they call “mistake” stitches? “Humility” stitches!!
February 4th, 2012 at 2:40 am
Well I think it looks very pretty!!! And a total bonus that you can actually wear it when you needed it (I’m going to have this massive scarf it will NEVER be cold enough for me to actually wear). 🙂
Also, I never would have known anything was wrong with it if you hadn’t said so.

It looks really good, and I love the colour, it really suites you!

Funny how imperfections can turn into design elements! I love it! The color is gorgeous.

I’m glad that you just…forged ahead with the imperfections, because this cowl is gorgeous (and yay for it being warm and wearable, too!)—the twistiness looks really nice, unintentional or not, and the yarn and your knitting are both beyond lovely.

Only you will know its imperfections. It’s beautiful and a great color. Enjoy wearing it, it looks very nice on you.

…and in spite of the nagging little mistakes, the cowl looks beautiful. Wear it with pride!

It looks awesome 😀 and the twist makes it look more interesting.
